What does in-mold labeling mean? How to paste in-mold labels to molds?

In-Mold Labeling is a technology that inserts the label directly into the surface of the product during injection molding. The in-mold labeling process takes place inside the mold and involves multiple steps and details. The following is the detailed labeling process:

1. Preparation stage

(1) Select label materials: according to the needs of the product and the characteristics of the mold, choose the appropriate label materials. Label materials need to have characteristics such as high temperature and chemical corrosion resistance to ensure that they will not be damaged during injection molding.

(2) Mold design: In the mold design, it is necessary to reserve the position and space for the label. The design should ensure the positioning accuracy of the label in the mold, so that the label can be accurately pasted on the product.

2. Label placement

(1) Clean the mold: Before placing the label, it is necessary to ensure that the mold surface is clean. Wipe the surface of the mold with detergent and a soft cloth to remove impurities such as oil and dust, and ensure that the labels fit tightly.

(2) Place the label: Place the label in the designated area of the mold according to the designed position and direction. The label should be placed accurately and smoothly to avoid problems such as skew and wrinkling.

3, injection molding

(1) Heat the mold: heat the mold to the appropriate temperature so that the plastic can smoothly fill the mold cavity and tightly fit the label.

(2) Injection plastic: The molten plastic is injected into the mold cavity to ensure that the plastic can fully fill the mold and tightly wrap the label.

4, cooling and stripping

(1) Cooling: Wait for the plastic to cool and cure in the mold to ensure that the label is closely fitted to the surface of the product.

(2) Demoulding: After cooling is completed, open the mold and remove the molded product from the mold. At this point, the label has been firmly attached to the surface of the product.

5. Precautions

(1) Label stickiness: The selected label material should have appropriate stickiness to ensure that it can be tightly attached to the surface of the product during injection molding and is not easy to fall off after cooling.

(2) Temperature control of the mold: the temperature of the mold has an important impact on the pasting effect of the label. Too high a temperature may cause the label to deform or melt, and too low a temperature may cause the label to not fit tightly on the surface of the product.

6. Summary

The process of in-mold labeling requires precise control in mold design, label material selection, mold cleaning, label placement, injection molding and cooling demoulding. The correct operation method and precautions can ensure that the label is accurately and firmly pasted on the surface of the product during the injection molding process, improving the beauty and durability of the product.
