What are the types of plastic molds?

During the use of plastic molds, there will be a variety of failure forms, which will affect the performance and life of the mold. The form of failure mainly includes 6 types: grinding loss, fatigue failure, corrosion failure, heat fatigue failure, adhesion failure, deformation failure.

The following introduces the following 6 common forms of plastic molds:

(1) Effect loss: wear is one of the common forms of mold failure. In the process of contact with plastic materials, it will cause wear on the surface of the mold. Long -term wear will increase the size of the mold and the surface roughness, which will affect the quality and accuracy of the product.

(2) Fatigue failure: Fatigue failure is due to the crack expansion and break that occur under the long -term loading of the mold. During the use of plastic molds, repeated stress loading is experienced. If it exceeds the fatigue limit of the material, fatigue will fail. Fatigue failure is usually manifested as cracks, breaks or deformation.

(3) Corrosion failure: Corrosion refers to the failure caused by the erosion of the surface of the mold by chemical substances. Plastic molds may contact some chemicals, such as acid, alkali, etc., causing corrosion of the surface of the mold. Corrosion will make the surface of the mold rough and even generate holes, affecting the service life and product quality of the mold.

(4) Fever failure: heat fatigue is due to the failure of the mold under long -term high temperature environment. Plastic molds need to bear a high temperature cooling cycle during injection, which will cause thermal expansion and contraction of mold materials, which will cause heat fatigue failure. Heat fatigue is usually manifested as cracks, deformation or broken.

(5) Adhesion failure: adhesion refers to the plastic material attached to the surface of the mold during the injection molding process. As the number of injection molding increases, the adhesion of the mold surface will fail. The adhesion will make the surface of the mold rough, affecting the appearance and size accuracy of the product.

(6) Deformation failure: Plastic molds will be suffered from large injection molding pressure and temperature changes during injection, which may cause the deformation of the mold. The deformation of the mold will cause the product size to be inaccurate, poor appearance, or even unavailable.

The above are some common forms of plastic molds. Each form of failure will have a different degree of impact on the performance and life of the mold. In order to extend the service life of plastic molds, appropriate maintenance measures need to be taken, and factors such as material selection, processing process and stress analysis are taken into account in the design and manufacturing process.
